Join us for two exciting days of world-class electric sailplane competition at the Fort Bend F5J Open 2026! Pilots from across the region will gather at the Fort Bend RC Club field to compete in the thrilling discipline of F5J thermal soaring, where strategy, precision, and skill determine who climbs to the top.
F5J is one of the fastest-growing classes in RC soaring. Pilots launch their electric-powered gliders and must decide the perfect moment to shut off the motor, then search the sky for rising air to stay aloft and complete a ten-minute flight window. Landing accuracy and low launch altitude both play a critical role, making every flight a test of both pilot skill and tactical decision-making.
Whether you’re a seasoned competitor, an RC pilot interested in soaring, or a spectator who enjoys aviation and model aircraft, the Fort Bend F5J Open offers an exciting and welcoming environment for all.
